After an auction purging their equipment, parts, and tools, and selling the factory to Haas I was shocked to read this.
Against the odds, Marussia has taken the first steps towards being on the grid in 2015, and the team is set to come out of administration later this month.
It's understood that confirmation that the team will receive its payment for finishing ninth in the World Championship has been the key factor.
The World Motor Sport Council is set to confirm that the team can use its 2014 chassis, after the FIA said last year that it would allow the two struggling teams to do so, despite rule changes.

I don't think that sale ended up happening. Haas put in a bid, but the auction was canceled. So Marussia till has a base of operations including some tools and equipment.I can't imagine their 2014 car with 2014 engines would be even remotely useful though. Unless Ferrari manages to get them some 2015 spec motors, they might as well not bother until next year.

Not everything was sold. They sold parts of the base, but supposedly, none of it was mission critical. The sale that was going to be mission critical was put on hold when they found investment. I really hope that they make it. This is a team of legit racers that has been built over the last couple of decades. They worked their way into F1 unlike Tony Fernandes who just bought his way in and threw hissy fits when they failed.

It's about the money they're owed for Bianchi's points in Monaco - if they show up to the start of the season with the old 2014 gear, roll around for a couple of laps and retire, that's 40m or so.

I see their second auction was cancelled, but everything I read said that Haas actually bought the factory.

Ah, I didn't know that happened. I was still under the impression the debate over what to do with those assets was still ongoing. So I guess they have a LOT of work to do and again, they should just sit out this season.

Bernie will try and make them do the full calendar before handing over 40million

Even if the still had the factory, they laid everyone off several months ago.
I can't see this happening unless one of the investors has a garage.
